Earring Stud for Half-Drilled Beads, 4 mm, Stainless Steel 304

These earring posts are suited for half-drilled pearls and other small components where the hole doesn't go all the way through the piece. The 2 mm mounting pin in the center of the post fits into the pearl's hole, so the pearl sits neatly centered on the 4 mm pad.

This style is especially well suited to pearl stud earrings, small gemstone cabochons, and other round or pearl-like embellishments where you want an inconspicuous but secure attachment.

Add a small amount of glue suited for jewelry making to the 2 mm mounting pin in the center of the post, and to the pearl's hole if needed. Press the pearl gently into place so it sits straight on the 4 mm pad.

Avoid using too much glue, so it doesn't squeeze out around the edges of the pearl. Let the glue cure undisturbed according to the manufacturer's instructions before wearing, packaging, or selling the earrings.

For attaching half-drilled pearls to the metal pin, use a strong jewelry glue suited for jewelry making. It fills the small hole well and forms a durable bond between the metal and the pearl.

Ordinary super glue usually isn't the best choice for jewelry use, since it can become brittle over time or leave visible marks on delicate materials. Always test the glue on your own pearl material first, especially if you're using natural pearls, freshwater pearls, or dyed gemstone beads.

This style has a small 2 mm pin in the center of the 4 mm pad, intended for the hole in a half-drilled pearl or other component. A standard 4 mm glue-pad earring post is better suited to flat-backed embellishments, such as flat-back pieces, small resin pieces, and flat polymer clay jewelry. If the decorative piece is half-drilled, this post style gives better centering and a more secure attachment. For flat-backed embellishments, a better option is the 4 mm earring post without a center pin.

The post is 0.8 mm thick, so all our earring backs fit this post. For a polished, as secure as possible result, a metal earring back is a good choice, such as the surgical steel earring back.

A silicone stopper is a soft, lightweight option, but it's generally not as secure as a metal back. It can work well enough for lightweight pearl stud earrings, though, especially if the earring isn't heavy and won't be under much strain.
